Moo-Sik’s Tragic Journey: A Tale of Betrayal, Accusations, and Childhood Struggles

Moo-Sik tries to stay calm, but then his partner sends him a message telling him that everything is a trap. And all of a sudden, a bunch of armed guards show up and take him away. What do you charge? Well, it looks like he killed Min Seok-Jun. Mu-Sik tells them it was a mistake, but it doesn’t help. He is handcuffed and taken to the Bureau of Immigration.

Then we go back to 1972 in Gyeongnam, Yangsan. Moo-Sik (Lee Kyu-hyung) tells about his childhood, including how he made a living at a daycare center. He wants to eat more than what the nuns give him, and he makes friends with another orphaned kid named Jong-Hyun.

The two decide to go exploring together and try to make some money on the side. Some of that comes from getting bitten by fire ants, which are pretty gross. Even though it hurts, they go up to see the old man at the herbal shop. The old man is thankful and gives them some money. But they don’t have enough to buy fried chicken, so they play rock, paper, scissors with other kids as a bet. They don’t get anything out of it.

After Moo-Sik has healed from the fire ant bites, his mother goes back to the center. Jong-Hyun is, of course, all by himself now. Three years later, Moo-mom, Sik’s Suk-Ja, works hard to make sure they have enough money to live. Moo-Sik also works hard. He catches tadpoles and helps his mom to make as much Won as he can. His dad is a well-known gangster in the area who goes by the name “The General” (Kyung-Duk). He talks down to Suk-Ja and looks down on Moo-Jin when he finds out how far behind he is in school. He spanks his son until he learns to read as a way to teach him how to behave.

At night, the place turns into a place to gamble. Kyung-Duk tells Suk-Ja to make food for everyone, and he sends Moo-Jin on a mission to get two boxes of Bacchus-D. Kyung-Duk does help Moo-Sik with his schoolwork, but in the middle of that, he beats two gamblers who try to pull a fast one on him. All of this is against the law, so Kyung-Duk is put back in jail, leaving Moo-Sik and his mother alone.

When we find out that Kyung-Duk was sent to prison in Daejeon, it’s 1976, and Moo-Sik and Suk-Ja are back to trying to make a living. He ends up running into Jong-Hyun on the street, where he is trying to make money. He ran away from the orphanage and now sells newspapers for a living. Moo-Sik thinks this is a good chance, even though the stakes are already high.

He will get smacked for every newspaper he doesn’t sell. So it makes sense that Moo-Sik takes 100 copies and sells them all. He decides to sell them for more than he bought them for.

Moo-sik Sets Up a New Casino in Town With a Team of 12 Dealers

This goes on until the year 2000 when Jong-Hyun still does business with people who aren’t very nice. Now, though, things are much more important than they were before. Moo-Sik is on the straight and narrow now that he has opened an English school. When Chi-Young, who works for Jong-Hyun, shows up, they ask for his help. On the trip, they go to Busan, where Moo-Sik gets a taste of gambling and even plays a few games.

As a result of his plan, Moo-Sik makes 1.9 million won, and the next morning, he is given a couple of alcohol vouchers and told to follow him. Now, this alcohol is just a front for the business that goes on behind closed doors, but they are making a lot of money. And, of course, it makes Moo-Sik think. He’s sure he can handle the police, but for the operation to work, he’d need a solid group of 12 dealers. To make this happen, he looks for a place and pays the owner off. He then cleans up the place and sets it up as the new casino in town. “What the hell, let’s give it a try,” Moo-Sik says.
