In the first scene of Season 1 Episode 9, Sang-Su comes home to Mi-Gyeong. Now that they are a couple, they really live the life of a couple. They read in bed and talk about their days. But it’s important to note that Sang-Su seems uninterested.
Then, Episode 9 jumps to the wedding of a bank worker (Mr. Yang). But the groom has disappeared, so Sang-Su and Su-Yeong are looking for him. Sang-Su finds him smoking on the roof. The groom is upset that an ex-girlfriend told him to have a happy future. He’s not over it at all. Even so, the groom gets married. After that, the photographer told Sang-Su and Su-Yeong to stand next to each other for the wedding picture. Su-Yeong and Sang-Su can’t stop looking at each other at the wedding party.
Su-yeong asks Jong-hyeon why he says “yes” to everything after the wedding. She doesn’t want him to always try to make her happy, so she tells him to go study so she can be alone. Mi-Gyeong finds one of Sang-notepads Su with the words “Jong-Hyeon, Su-Yeong, blind date?” written on it. She remembers times when Su-Yeong and Sang-Su did things that now don’t seem like coincidences. She thinks that they might like each other.
Jong-Hyeon and Su-Yeong’s Relationship Struggles
Episode 9 moves away from the wedding night. Jong-Hyeon is upset that Su-Yeong got rid of her piano and plants. He tells her that he feels small and weak since moving into her house. He thinks that she got rid of things because of him and that he is making her life harder. Su-Yeong just asks him if he’s sorry he moved in with her. His silence says everything. Su-Yeong is angry that her efforts to make them work as a couple don’t seem to be noticed.
Mi-Gyeong has dinner with Su-Yeong to find out more about what she thinks is going on. She asks about Sang-Su and if he flirts with anyone at the bank. Su-Yeong says she doesn’t know much about Sang-Su and his love life. Mi-Gyeong seems fine with her answer and tells her again that Sang-Su is with her and likes her. It looks like she’s making herself believe.
After that, Jong-Hyeon apologizes to Su-Yeong for being a “useless” person and says that he will stay with her in the apartment. At this point, Jong-Hyeon is losing his manliness and becoming less valuable and attractive. No matter what, the two kiss passionately.
At work, Sang-Su finds out that Mi-Gyeong used to date Gyeong-Pil. Her first love was him. Mi-gyeong invites Sang-su to see her friends, so he doesn’t have time to think about it.
Then we get to the unclear part from the end of Episode 8. Su-Yeong is alone in a hotel room. She calls Jong-Hyeon and lies that she will be at her friend’s house. She opens the door to her hotel room, but then the scene quickly changes to Sang-Su meeting Mi-friends. Gyeong He wasn’t going to Su-room Yeong at the hotel. Su-Yeong wants to get away from Jong-Hyeon for a while.
Sang-Su and Mi-Gyeong’s Relationship Strains
Mi-Gyeong gives Sang-Su a brand new car as a surprise gift after he meets her friends. In just one day, she bought him a new suit and a car. Sang-Su doesn’t like that the gifts are so expensive. Mi-Gyeong wants him to accept the gifts, but it seems like she’s trying to buy his love. Sang-Su doesn’t want to keep talking, so he leaves and goes home.
Sang-Su runs into Su-Yeong on his way home. Both of them are surprised to see each other on the street. The awkwardness from the last few episodes is still going on. So many words have not been said.
After that, Mi-Gyeong asks Sang-Su if it’s time for her to see his mother. Su-yeong decides to have a serious talk with Jong-hyeon. She asks him about the bruises on his face, but he doesn’t want to talk about them. Instead, he tells her that he got into a fight with a friend while he was away for a few days. Then he tells her that he failed the test again. This is a character who keeps making mistakes and losing faith. At this point, Su-Yeong is trying to save him, which makes Jong-Hyeon angry.
The Interest of Love Episode 9 Ending Explained
Su-Yeong and Sang-Su are requested to attend the burial of a VIP client as Episode 9 is coming to a close. Su-Yeong and Sang-Su attending a funeral together worry Mi-Gyeong, according to Gyeong-Pil.
Sang-Su talks about his father at the funeral and expresses to Su-Yeong how he felt as a child. He seems to have moved Su-Yeong with his comments and openness. Su-Yeong takes advantage of this chance to show her own vulnerability by discussing her brother’s passing. Su-Yeong explains to Sang-Su that he did not receive a position at HQ because he stood up for her, and she asks if he now regrets it. He informs her that if he hadn’t stood up for her against Mr. Yuk, he would have regretted it even more.
They make the decision to leave the train early and head to the beach to spend more time together. Sang-Su and Su-Yeong seem content for the first time in many episodes. Sang-Su confesses to Su-Yeong that he wished he had been more clear when they first met (on Jeju Island) and that he had wanted to go to the beach with her.
Sang-Su is informed by Su-Yeong that she believes it is too late and that they should leave for home. Sang-Su receives a closed-off Su-Yeong once more. Su-Yeong expresses her gratitude to Sang-Su for a pleasant time and remarks that she hasn’t laughed in a long time as they make their way home. Su-Yeong remains silent as Sang-Su waits for her to respond to her question about her happiness.
