Girlfriend Na Pwede Na Review
Jason Inigo “Jiggs” Gatchalian (Gab Lagman) just won the Best Director award at the Cinemasigla independent film festival at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Pam Delos Reyes, played by Kim Molina, was Jiggs’s faithful girlfriend from the beginning of his career. But on the night he won, Jiggs broke up with her because he felt they were no longer on the same level because they barely spoke the same language.
Pam was so angry and hurt that she cried her eyes out in front of her best friends Gene (Prince Stefan), Belle (Andrea Babierra), and Tin, her younger sister (Heart Ryan). They decided that the best way to make Jiggs jealous was to hire a guy to act like he was a rich film producer who was crazy about Pam. After looking at a number of candidates, they finally chose Francisco “Isko” Mangahas, who sells coconuts on the street (Jerald Napoles).
The trouble in this love story wasn’t something new. We’ve seen a lot of rom-coms where the person who lost their love tries everything to get them back, but in the process, they learn to love themselves more. But this story’s plot made us have to believe a lot of things that didn’t make sense. Pam’s plan to make Jiggs jealous by choosing someone like Isko made no sense at all. Director Benedict Mique knew it, but he was smart and just brushed over it.
Gab Lagman, a promising lead actor, has made the jump from the online jungle of Vivamax to the big screen. Even though he looked like a movie star, he tended to be very self-conscious and hesitant when he acted, which made him a wooden Jiggs. Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles were so funny on their own that Lagman had no chance to stand out. He should be given another chance to show what a good actor he is.

The best thing about this movie was Molina and Napoles’ easygoing and naughty chemistry. They’ve had it since they were in “Rak of Aegis” on the PETA stage and in the rom-coms they’ve done together, as well as in their real-life relationship. It was nice to see that Pam had a successful online business, made her own decisions, and dealt with the results. But there wasn’t much mystery or suspense about who Pam would end up with. 5/10.
