MEXICO CITY, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that six Mexican beaches were recognized among the 20 Best Beaches in the Americas in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, one of the world’s most renowned travel publications.
“Having six Mexican beaches among the 20 best in the Americas fills us with pride and confirms the tremendous appeal of our sun-and-beach destinations. Mexico is trending, and these recognitions show that our landscapes, natural wealth, and the experiences we offer continue to captivate travelers from around the world,” she said.
In the Best Beaches in the Americas category, Tulum, Quintana Roo, ranked second with a score of 96.29; Playa Balandra, Baja California Sur, ranked fifth with 94.86; Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, ranked eleventh with 90.50; Akumal Beach, Quintana Roo, ranked thirteenth with 88.28; Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, ranked fifteenth with 85.77; and Playa del Amor, Marietas Islands, Nayarit, ranked sixteenth with 84.94.
Rodríguez Zamora added that Holbox, Quintana Roo, ranked third among the best islands in North America with a score of 94.29.
