Missing the Other Side Season 2 Episode 1 Insights and Highlights: Two years after what happened in Duon Village, there is a new mystery. When a mysterious young man shows up, it brings our main characters’ attention to a series of missing-person cases, which brings up more supernatural questions.
From what I can see, this second part is off to a good start. I haven’t seen the first season yet, but it’s on my list of things to watch. The drama does a good job of introducing its main characters and plot without going into long explanations. It caught my attention right away, and I can’t wait to find out what’s going on.

Tricking the Illegal Organ Harvester and Helping Those in Need
In the first part of the first episode, THOMAS CHA (Song Geon-hee), a resident of Duon Village, talks about our main trio in an interview. Duon Village is a place where the souls of dead people who went missing stay. Many villagers were able to find peace and move on with their lives with their help.
That brings us to the present day, where our very good and honest main three characters are… tricking an illegal organ harvester into giving them money. HAHAHA. In their disguises, JANG PAN-SEOK (Heo Joon-ho) and LEE JONG-AH (Ahn So-hee) sneak away, but KIM WOOK (Go Soo) is caught in the act.
Luckily, his police friend SHIN JOON-HO (Ha Joon) gets there just in time to save him. Joon-ho scares the gangsters away by pretending to arrest Wook and telling them loudly that they all need to go to the police station to testify, ha. Wook tells them that a mother’s money was stolen while she was trying to find an organ donor for her sick son, and they wanted to help her get it back.
When we get home, our main trio gets together. Now, they have a normal life where their main worries are about the physical world, not the spiritual one. Jong-ah tells the two guys that they need to pay their share of the rent on time, but Wook’s generosity wins out, and his money goes to help the poor mother who the organ harvester tricked.
Unraveling the Mystery of Missing Children
Wook is the kind of person who can’t stand by and do nothing when he sees wrongdoing. When he finds out an old lady in a cafe is the target of a voice phishing scam, he goes up to her and tries to help. Wook goes after the scammer after a young man gives him a tip. By the end of the story, Wook has caught the scammer, gone viral on the internet, and won a Brave Citizen Award.
But there’s more to the story than meets the eye. Soon, the young man comes back to Wook. When Jong-ah walks right through him, Wook realizes that the young man isn’t alive. Wook is shocked to find out why he can see ghosts again all of a sudden.
Wook’s first instinct is to be skeptical and suspicious, but it’s soon clear that the young man isn’t just something he made up. He tells Wook that he is OH IL-YONG (Kim Dong-Hwi) and that the cafe scammer is dead and that the people who ran him over with their car are keeping a woman who was taken hostage in their trunk. Oh no, things got bad fast.
It turns out that Pan-Seok can see ghosts again for no apparent reason, so the two men set out to find out why. But when they go to Duon Village, they can’t see it anymore. Again, Wook is likely to ignore Il-claims, Yong but when the kidnapped woman is found dead, Wook can no longer ignore Il-Yong.
Also, Il-Yong has important information. It turns out that Pan-Seok knows the person who fell for the voice phishing because they are both parents whose kids have gone missing. She is still looking for her daughter, and Il-Yong says he knows where she is.
Trusting Il-Yong and Uncovering the Truth
Wook and Pan-Seok walk through an empty warehouse to get to the address Il-Yong gave them. From there, they can see a small village from a mountain ridge. A quick look through the phone camera shows that they’re still in the warehouse. This place, like Duon Village, is only visible to them. As the two men stare at each other in shock, Il-Yong walks up to them.
That’s where the episode ends, and I want more. That was a very good first episode; I’m definitely interested. But the question is whether or not you can trust Il-Yong. He says he died three years ago, but Joon-ho quickly checks the database of missing people and finds nothing. Il-claims Yong’s seem to be true for now, but does he have another reason to talk to Wook?
As if that wasn’t enough to think about, there are also a few other stories going on. First of all, Joon-ho has had his fair share of strange things happen to him. For example, he gets knocked out while visiting the home of a missing person, but his colleague says that the call records show that he called 911 himself.
The Mysterious Village
On top of that, another case is still out there. Student MOON BO-RA (Choi Myung-bin) asks the police to look for her missing mother, but because her mother was a bar hostess, not many people are willing to take her seriously. Joon-ho is the only one who can hear her, but with everything going on, can he find her before it’s too late?
The first episode of the drama had a lot going on, and I’m impressed by how everything is already linked. It’s clear right away that there’s more to all of these events than meets the eye, which makes me curious about the bigger mystery.
Who is taking these people? How did Il-Yong always seem to be where he needed to be when he needed to be there? What does this have to do with the new village? There are so many things I want to know, and I can’t wait to find out.
