Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 12 Recap

The Storm of Emotions: Mob’s Struggle with his Powers and Relationships

In the first scene of the episode, Tsubomi is looking at the huge storm that Mob is making. She thinks she should leave, but she decides to wait for Mob instead.

At the same time, Reigen and Serizawa are also having a hard time getting close to Mob because of the winds. Even though Serizawa tries hard, he isn’t strong enough to bring them closer. Reigen says it’s fine because he can finish the journey on his own.

The crazy Mob, who turns out to be a manifestation of Mob’s psychic powers, slowly moves toward Tsubomi while the real Mob is afraid to get too close to her. As kids, when Tsubomi stopped being interested in Mob’s powers, he stopped using them around her, but she always liked him anyway. The crazy Mob says that it wasn’t the real Mob who fell in love with her, but his powers, which is why he needs to see her right now.

When Mob hears Reigen calling for him in the background, he realizes that, like Tsubomi, his master has never judged Mob because of his powers. Even though the crazy Mob knows that Reigen doesn’t have any powers and is just a con artist, the real Mob knows that Reigen has always been nice to him, even though he is a liar. Reigen watches in horror as he realizes that he had no idea how much Mob had been feeling all along.

Mob, who has lost his mind, tries to use his powers to blow Regain away, but Regain fights back by holding on to pieces of debris and begging Mob to listen to him. The harder he tries, the more violently his body is thrown against the streets and falling buildings. Still, he doesn’t give up. With all the strength he has left, he runs toward Mob. He finally catches up to Mob’s body and just stops him by grabbing his ankles. But Mob’s powers don’t care about what he has to say.

Mob’s Journey to Acceptance: Confronting the Truth and Overcoming Fears

Mob’s body keeps walking toward Tsubomi. He thinks he has gotten away from Reigen, but Reigen has run ahead to catch up to him. Mob is surprised to find that the older man is stronger than usual when he grabs his hand and forces him to stop and talk. When Reigen finally looks up, he shows that he let Dimple take over his body. Dimple says that he was drawn to the energy, which helped him find his way back, but that he is having trouble staying real right now. Reigen thanks the spirit for helping him, but he also wants to talk to Mob on his own.

Reigen finally tells the truth in a fit of anger. He says that he has never had psychic powers or abilities and never will. He cries and tells Mob that the whole thing was a lie. Even when he met Mob for the first time in elementary school, he lied, and he’s been using Mob ever since. He says, “I don’t know anything about all this psychic stuff, and that’s who I really am.” He says he’s sorry he ever had the nerve to call himself Mob’s master, but he reassures Mob that what he’s going through now is still normal. Everyone has more than one side, and even though he hates lying, it helped him get close to Mob, just as Mob’s powers have helped him get better. Reigen tells Mob, “You’re fine the way you are.” He wants Mob to accept himself as he is.

As the real Mob asks his powers if they will ever be able to accept him the way all of his other friends have, the meter for Mob’s next explosion keeps going up. Mob says he wants things to go back to the way they were, but his powers are still afraid that Tsubomi will say no. Mob says that if that happens, they will get through it, putting out a helping hand to himself as his meter reaches 100%. The Mob is finally able to take control of his body again. With only one flower left in his bouquet, he starts walking to Tsubomi. Dimple asks if they should go with him or if Tsubomi is still waiting, but Reigen tells him that Mob needs to do this by himself.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 12 Ending Explanation

Dimple and Reigen don’t know what to do next until they see Mob come back with the same flower. They think Tsubomi left, but Mob says she turned him down, even though it never occurred to her to think of him that way. When Mob starts to cry, Reigien puts his arm around him and tries to calm him down and cheer him up as the three of them walk home through the rubble.

After six months, Mob is doing well at school. We see him going to his clubs and being more active than he ever has been. We see him making plans with his friends and having a full conversation with Ritsu as they walk home. Even though the meetings are short, it’s interesting to see how Mob has changed from the beginning of the series, when he was quiet and shy, to the end, when he’s more outgoing and comfortable around other people. Mob and Ritsu are walking when they run into Hanazawa. Hanazawa decides to follow them to the Spirits and Such Consultation Office.

As they walk into the building, people can see that Tome is now also working there. She asks Mob how Tsubomi is doing and tells him that they still talk on the phone often, even though Tsubomi turned her down at first. Slowly, more of Mob’s old friends start to show up. These include the Telepathy Club, Sho, the Shiratori brothers, and more. All of them seem to be waiting for Reigen. When Reigen and Dimple walk in a few minutes later, everyone is throwing him a surprise birthday party. He’s almost moved to tears when he trips and falls face-first into his cake. The episode ends with a fit of laughter, putting an end to the whole series.

As a fan of Mob Psycho 100, I’m sad to see it end, but this was a more than satisfactory ending. In the last few episodes, Mob had the chance to tie up any loose ends with old friends and enemies. In the end, he only had to deal with himself, Reigen, and Dimple. It made sense for them to be in the final showdown since they have always been the most important people in the series.

I usually complain when shows like this don’t have enough action, but it wasn’t necessary for this finale. The episode’s emotional weight was more than enough to make it one of the best of the season. I really like it when a series wraps up its story arc and leaves viewers with few or no unanswered questions. Mob Psycho did a great job of doing this, so viewers aren’t left with any big questions.
