The First Slam Dunk Movie Ending Explained: The Battle for Basketball Supremacy!
The First Slam Dunk movie picked up where the anime did 20 years earlier. Just when fans thought they would get the answers they wanted, the full-length movie gave them another mystery to solve: what happened at the end of The First Slam Dunk movie? Let’s find out what the mysterious ending is all about.
What Happened in The First Slam Dunk Movie?
The movie was mostly about two things: Shohoku’s game with Sannoh and Miyagi Ryota’s past. To remind you, Ryota didn’t have as much screen time as the other characters in the anime.
Making him the main character of the movie filled in a lot of gaps in the anime, like how he was related to Mitsui and Akagi. Ryota’s struggles as a basketball player and with his family are shown all throughout the movie. Sota, his older brother, was a big reason why he kept playing basketball.

Sota also wanted to beat Sannoh because they were thought to be the best basketball team. Because of this, Ryota’s story goes well with Shohoku’s game against Sannoh. Shohoku beats Sannoh near the end of the movie (thanks to the miraculous shot by Hanamichi). The Miyagi family could then get over Sato’s death and move on with their lives.
The best player for Sannoh, Eiji Sawakita, was also seen playing in the U.S. This shows that even though Sannoh lost to Shohoku, Eiji kept playing and was still thought of as one of Japan’s best players. Eiji was known as Japan’s best point guard in the past, so this was to be expected. The fact that Ryota is on the other team and is competing against Eiji’s team is what caught people’s attention.

The First Slam Dunk Movie Ending Explained
Ryota proved to everyone that he is a great player in the game against Sannoh. He is not only fast, but he also knows how to get a point in the best way. Ryota never gave up, even though he had trouble because he was short and most players are tall.
Also, after the original Slam Dunk manga ended, a second one came out. The sequel, called “10 Days After,” is about Ryota getting better at what he does. He even took over as captain of the team after Akagi. In the same way, his talent and ability to lead might have helped him become a world-class player, as seen at the end of the movie. We hope that the manga sequel and the last few chapters of the Slam Dunk manga will be made into an anime soon.
