CBFC Tweaks Nakhrewaalii’s Dialogue, Softens Tone and Adjusts Language
Nakhrewaalii, a sparkling romantic comedy, danced its way into theaters on October 30. This film promises a rollicking ride filled with laughter and heartwarming moments, all wrapped in a delightful North Indian ambiance—a flavor that has carved its own niche in the Bollywood landscape.
Viewers might be taken aback to discover that Nakhrewaalii received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This rating likely stems from a few scenes that cater solely to an adult audience.
Smooth Edits and Dialogue Tweaks
Earlier this week, Nakhrewaalii received the green light from the CBFC. Though the film carries an adults-only badge, the CBFC’s Examining Committee suggested some modifications. One of the bolder phrases, ‘Maa ki’, was toned down, with its translation also adjusted by removing ‘mother’ from the subtitles.
- The committee proposed replacing the dialogue, ‘UP mein sab poor hote hai kya Sumit’, with the more neutral ‘Tumhare yahan sab aise hote hai kya…’.
- Another line swapping ‘UP‘ for ‘village‘ ensured regional sensitivities were respected.
- Lastly, the phrase ‘Must be some East Delhi b***h’ was creatively softened to ‘Must be some cheap little witch’.
After these adjustments, the film’s creators received the censor certificate on October 28. Clocking in at 129.27 minutes, Nakhrewaalii offers audiences two hours, nine minutes, and 27 seconds of pure entertainment.
