Crash Course in Romance Episode 2 Highlights
Tragedies and Personalities Shaping the Main Characters in Crash Course in Romance
The second episode of Crash Course in Romance starts with a flashback to when Nam Haeng-Seon (Jeon Do-Yeon) and Choi Chi-Yeol (Jung Kyoung-Ho) were teenagers. Also, the unique blast from the past gives them more information about their childhoods and gives them a chance to think about their own futures. First, we hear about how the death of Choi Chi-father Yeol was a personal tragedy for him. Then, we hear about how compassionate Nam Haeng-mother Seon was.
The flashback ends when Nam Hae-mother E leaves her at the door of the dish store. And then Nam’s Haeng-mother Seon dies in a car crash. Also, this short scene with multiple tragedies gives us a general idea of what caused the main characters to act the way they do.
For example, Nam Haeng-many Seon’s responsibilities and sacrifices made her strong and positive over time. They were also the reason she quit sports. In the same way, Choi Chi disciplined Yeol’s hard work ethic comes from his need to be independent after his father died.
After this sad update, the drama finally moves on to what is going on now. Where the best math teacher ever meets the owner of a dish store who is wearing a mask. The second time they meet, Nam Haeng-Seon is in a hurry to get her niece into Choi Chi-class, Yeol’s so they don’t talk for long. And as luck would have it, the hard-working Nam Haeng-Seon gets a seat in the most popular class in the city. All of this was done without knowing who the eager new customer really was.
Jealousy and Truth Revealed
In the second half of Crash Course in Romance Episode 2, Choi Chi-Yeol also shows a kind and gentle side. Honestly, it doesn’t last very long. The enthusiastic math tutor teaches his class with all his heart and does his signature flying kick to get the students excited (I still have no idea what Math as a subject has to do with it). Later, he yells at his staff for not printing the syllabus on time, and then he goes back to his “zero-care zone.”
The episode also has hints of jealousy in the way Bang Su-A treats Nam Hae-E. Which is just another story about two classmates being jealous of each other. Also, in a small part of the episode, Kim Young-Joo gave a pep talk as she tried to convince the new strange customer that his feelings were only one-sided.
At the end of the episode, Choi Chi-Yeol shows up for his dinner dish wearing the same disguise. This is the moment of truth. He gave Nam Haeng-Seon a cell phone as part of his plan to make things right, but now he’s in a bad spot because of it. The proud owner of the food store decided to return the expensive gift because she thought it was how the stranger showed how he felt.
But it doesn’t take long for Nam Jae-Woo to recognize the guy in the tiger jacket from the coaching poster. In the end, he shows everyone who he is. This is when Nam Jae-Woo recognizes the hospital thief and goes after him with all her strength.
Before things get out of hand, the whole window of the dish store breaks, which shocks everyone. All of the characters in the scene just put their heads down and try to get somewhere safe. Also, not much is said about who the attacker is, and the episode ends with a cliffhanger that isn’t clear.

Crash Course in Romance Episode 2 Review
The second episode of Crash Course in Romance is tighter and more interesting than the first, and it also shows more about the characters. Notably, the drama in the show was on a level playing field, which was a bit missing in the first episode. For example, the first 15 minutes are enough to make you care about the characters and understand why they do the things they do.
This time, the story is mostly about the main couple, so the supporting characters don’t have much to do. And only make a small appearance by making the story move faster.
I also have a feeling that things will get worse in the next episode since the stalker girl was attacked (Who is still present in his class for some weird reasons). Even though there is still a lot to learn about what happened, Choi Chi-Yeol will be in danger in the next episodes.
Overall, Crash Course in Drama Episode 2 was deep, grown-up, and a better look at the show’s delicate romance. The episode is available on Netflix. Tell us what you think about it in the space below.
